Vegetarian Sushi:

Today I finally got the vegetarian sushi book that I ordered online a few days ago. It was used and got it for approximately USD$7 so I was kind of doubtful that it would turn out to be an awesome sushi book.

Anyways today after my Wine of the World class, I rushed over to the post office and collected my package, opened it quickly and got the book out.

After taking a quick skim through the book, it took me no more than thirty seconds to realize that this book would be an awesome book. I am grateful that I found this book by accident. Last week FrecklesFly and I were in the mood to make sushi and we were also in the mood to try different ingredients, of course we are vegeterians so meat or seafood was out of the question. We found some unique things at the grocery store, but while looking through VegWeb we found an advertisement that pointed us to this book.

I look forward using this book to make exemplar sushi from now on!

The Half-Ton Man

This morning, I was just about to go to bed at 01:00 and I was just going through random channels and TLC's show caught my eye!

The first thing I saw was a BIG, I mean BIG pile of unidentifiable misshapen human blob. It took me a while to adjust to this unknown object and wait for the closed caption to begin showing up.

There were paramedics walking around the bed, as one was talking he was pointing out that this person was unable to breathe when he was lying on his back so he had to lie on his stomach. He said he could identify fecal matters all over the place, and said that liquid was seeping through the skin becasue the skin had stretched beyond it's ability, so literally the bed was SOAKED with body fluids that seeped out!

It was later revealed that the person weighted 1,075 lbs (unfortunately if he was trying to break the world record for being the heaviest person, he was 322 lbs short of the record) which was determined by using a scale for weighting trucks loaded with grain and it had been more than seven years since he had been out of the house. Well, the point of the show was to show that avoirdupois people need to lose weight or they will die. They were worried that this guy had weeks or days before he died.

The doctor decided to put this guy on a very strict diet, which its daily calorie intake did not exceed 1,200 calories. Within six weeks the dude had lost relatively half of his beef!

At that time, the dude was capable of walking around and getting around on his own. I am pretty sure there was someone around the corner watching him to make sure he did not fall down, besides who would not notice a 600 lb person walking around.

It was time for his gastric bypass surgery. The butchers decided to shut off approximately 90% of his stomach reducing his stomach intake to about 20 ounces at a time. Thus the dude can only eat 20 ounces at a sitting, I wonder if this is the beginning of humans stomach evolving into smaller ones!

When the guy weighted 500 lbs, the doctor announced that he was ready to go home.

Behold!

Patrick Deuel

There is more to this digusting post! They deny that they eat more than other people, they think that there are other people out there that eat more than they do. Note: they = Patrick Deuel and his wife.

However, when we take their grocery bill into consideration, I will let you judge their claims that they eat less than other people do. Their grocery bill comes to more than USD$ 1,200 per month.

Deaf Commonwealth:

Hello readers,

One course I am taking this quarter is "Deaf History" and we need to do an essay that is due during the mid-term week. This essay is related to chapter ten of Christopher Krentz's book titled "
A Mighty Change".

Chapter ten discusses debates about creating a Deaf Commonwealth and points out that this was not a new idea. Several important figures in Deaf History, including Laurent Clerc have suggested or talked about retaining property where Deaf people could settle and create communities.

In the late 1850's John Jacobus Flournoy started the most ambitious debate for a Deaf Commonwealth. The majority of responders were against the idea of creating a Deaf Commonwealth, including many Deaf people. Krentz says a possible reason for the majority of Deaf responders being against this Deaf Commonwealth is because they were educated and had jobs and did not experince the hardship Flournoy and other Deaf people experinced in the South.

The assignment is to write an essay explaining my side and why. I think I am going to support the idea of creating a Deaf Commonwealth. I just need to finish reading the chapter to find supporting points, but I thought I will post this on my blog and see what others think of creating a Deaf Commonwealth. I do not care if you support the idea or not, but please share the reasons why you support or do not support the idea of creating a Deaf Commonwealth.

I am going to work on two different versions why I support and how a Deaf Commonwealth can be accomplished so Deaf people have two choices on how to proceed and accomplish this dream.

Endangered Species of Rochester:

FrecklesFly and I decided to walk over to her apartment during the weekend. We want to try and walk more than we did before going to Europe. It took us approximately one hour to walk to her place from RIT (takes me only twenty to twentyfive minutes to walk to the nearest bar, MacGregor's from RIT).

The sad thing is that we stumbled on some unique discovery! I felt it is my duty to make it known before more of these things disappear. We kind of noticed it when we were walking along Jefferson Road in front of the Radison hotel in front of RIT, it improved when we started walking on the Brighton-Henrietta Townline Road, but disappeared after we crossed route 15A (I get confused with whether it is East or West Henrietta Rd).

The strange thing is these endangered species kept on showing up at the enterance of driveways and parking lots. It kind of started to make us realize why no one here really walked. Maybe if we started raising awareness of these endangered species and encouraged more of them to thrive, more people would start walking? Well, at least I am starting to raise public awareness with this post. I apologize for not being clear about what I am talking about because it is hard to find the correct word to describe these endangered species so I took a picture (as they say a picture is worth thousands of words) so you understand what I am talking about.

Notice how these species immediately disappears the further they get from the enterance of the parking lot (if you want to know the exact location of this picture, it was taken at the enterance of BJ's parking lot), this was seen all the way to her place. How can we expect people to walk along this road if these species are not protected.

By the way, yes I know sidewalks are not species in case you wanted to correct me.

one more thing...

Talking to bg0ur3, we realized that today is the eleventh day of September, which means it is the fourth anniversary (well four years and approximately two hours and half) of 9-eleven.

What does that mean? It's time to party hard and celebrate the hijackers. I know you are baffled at why I said celebrate the hijackers, and probably wondering "what about the people who died that day?".

My answer is... more people will think about the victims of that day than those hijackers. So I thought be more considerate and think about and honour those who will be least likely to be remembered and honoured.

I know many readers will react with anger because I am celebrating the hijackers. Before you fret and make a big issue out of this, I have also included a picture of millions of poppies to honour the victims. Yes, I said of millions, meaning each victim has more than one poppy which shows that I put a lot of energy and effort to show that I also do think about the victims.

Candy!

Yesterday, a bunch of us went to the Rochester Market to shop for fruits and vegetables. While we were at the market, I realized that I should keep an eye open for plants since I have never really owned a plant and wanted to add something that was alive in my dorm.

First, we got plenty of vegetables and fruits, met up with David, Jeff and Lore at the market. I found and bought Bodacious Rapture Hawaiian Pepper Jam, which I sampled and found to be very sweet and spicy. After getting pretty much everything I wanted I saw a table with plants. There were many different kinds of plants there, but none looked like great plants that I would want to take care of. One particular plant caught my attention. It cost $3.50 and I had no idea how to take care of this plant so I kind of hesitated to buy it, but told myself that I would go around and if I still saw nothing that I wanted, maybe I would consider going back and get that plant. The only dilemma I had was that it was the only plant on the table so I started to worry that someone else would take it before I came back.

Before leaving the table, I said that I would like this plant because it produces free candies. Another person who was with me exclaimed something like "This plant makes candy?!" while his/her eyes enlarged with surprise. That made me decide to buy the plant.

I am happy to introduce my new pet...

...the infamous HAWORTHIA plant!

Euro Pixs!

Hello readers,
I have good news to announce, today since I have no class, I braved the day while feeling sick from sucking and inhaling all the mucus that was stuffing my nose and headed to building 7, for those who do not know anything about RIT buildings, that is the building where the art and photography majors are located at.
After stopping at two computer labs and asking for help with finding a memory card reader, I was finally told to go to the library, yes the photography and art labs do not even have memory card readers! So now here I am transferring all the pictures to two CDs, don't want to arrive home and find out that one CD was unsuccessful and have no back-up.
It takes more than 40 minutes to burn everything onto one CD so I will bein the library for a while.
